I started realizing my passion and compassion for people over 20 years ago. My compassion for people grew as I worked with and helped those around me. Look for a counselor who is able to assist with remaining focused on the relationship, while challenging you into your 'best' - individually and as a couple. Expect the counselor to allow you to take part in and have some say during the counseling session. If there is an area that needs more time, you should have the right to say so. Your counselor should encourage you to take notes to reflect on and retain the information provided. Ask the counselor what you can expect as a result of counseling with them.
